The ultimate protection though is pairing the plastic bags your decoys come with and our individual nylon bags with drawstring closures. Our extensive testing has shown that individually bagging decoys preserves the finish up to 4 times as long as slotted bags.

We know, we know, it’s a pain in the butt! We wish there was a different way too, but no matter how good our paint adhesion is, bagged decoys will always last longer than those that are thrown around without any protection. We know that DSD’s are an investment for most people and we want your decoys to last you many seasons so you can save money over the long run and keep fooling birds for years to come. The mud, dust, water and abuse we put on our decoys all take a toll and are impossible to prevent, so the best way to combat that is by using bags to protect your spread.

Slotted Bags

Slotted bags are very convenient. A lot of people use them and we sell a slotted bag for this reason, but they are not a good option for protecting your finish. Because slotted bags are designed to put your decoys in vertically, a lot of stress is put on either the tails, heads, or both if you stack bags on top of each other. Slotted bags are also square, so sliding round decoys in and out can accelerate wear on your paint. The vast majority of paint issues reported by customers are caused by either not bagging or using slotted decoy bags. With that said, we have a few options that we highly recommend to get the most life out of your decoys instead of slotted bags.

Poly Bags

When your DSD’s are shipped to you they all come individually packaged in plastic bags. Our super flat finish helps fool geese in tough weather situations, but the rough finish can be a bit like sandpaper when rubbing against each other without bags. These plastic bags are not just intended for shipping, but will help extend your decoys life by protecting them from each other and causing wear while storing or hauling them out to your hunting spot.

Nylon Bags

The ultimate protection though is pairing the plastic bags your decoys come with and our individual nylon bags with drawstring closures. Our extensive testing has shown that individually bagging decoys preserves the finish up to 4 times as long as slotted bags. We have three different sizes to custom fit each decoy perfectly. We know that some people look at this as just too much work, but if you want your decoys to last, so that you can grow your spread instead of replacing it, there is no better way to go.
