Red Phase Mating Jake
Product Details
The Red Phase Jake pays tribute to the rare erythristic wild turkey. A genetic variation that produces warm red, chestnut, and rusty tones throughout their plumage. Unlike “smoke phase” birds that lack pigment, these birds carry an over-expression of red. Documented cases are extremely limited and most hunters will never encounter one in the wild.
Erythristic turkeys are seldom encountered in the wild, making this piece a preservation of something few will ever witness firsthand. Designed to hunt, but built around a moment that passes on genetics to the next generation.
A one-time chance to own a truly unique piece that highlights a rare genetic expression while supporting the research working to better understand wild turkey populations.

This Limited Series was inspired by ongoing efforts to better understand wild turkey genetics and the rare variations that occur in the wild. Work being done in the field continues to uncover how traits like erythristic plumage persist and are passed from one generation to the next.
This project was built around that idea, capturing a moment that represents those genetics in motion. Proceeds from this auction directly support continued research and study focused on wild turkey populations and the traits that define them.
