Brewer’s Duck
Product Details
The Brewer’s Duck has fascinated waterfowlers and ornithologists for more than 200 years. First described by John James Audubon in 1822, it wasn’t until 1943 that the bird was confirmed to be a naturally occurring hybrid between a Mallard and a Gadwall. Each Brewer’s Duck displays its own unique blend of characteristics from both parent species, making no two birds exactly alike.
Today, the story continues through duckDNA, the hunter-assisted research initiative led by Ducks Unlimited and the Lavretsky Lab at the University of Texas at El Paso. By studying hybridization and the genetics behind unusual waterfowl, duckDNA is helping unlock new insights into the birds we pursue.
That combination of history, science, and rarity made the Brewer’s Duck the perfect choice for this DSD Limited Series.
Each Brewer’s Duck is meticulously hand-painted and molded from our legendary ACE Material, making it equally at home in the marsh or on the display shelf. Every decoy includes a Certificate of Authenticity.
Made in the U.S.A.
Includes: (1) Limited Series Brewer’s Duck Floater, and (1) Certificate of Authenticity.

Conservation
As waterfowlers, few things are more exciting than bagging a bird with unique plumage. Whether this is a pigment defect in the wild, or it stems from a crossbreed of domestic lineage, it’s always exciting to get a unique bird in-hand.
For this DSD Limited launch, we found the perfect initiative to donate to—the incredible team at duckDNA. In fall 2023, Ducks Unlimited and the Lavretsky Lab at the University of Texas at El Paso launched duckDNA, a transformative hunter-assisted science initiative. This project directly involves hunters in the study of genetics and hybridization in North America’s wild ducks and geese.
