The Red Phase Leading Hen pays tribute to the rare erythristic wild turkey. A genetic variation that produces warm red, chestnut, and rusty tones throughout their plumage. Unlike “smoke phase” birds that lack pigment, these birds carry an over-expression of red. Documented cases are extremely limited and most hunters will never encounter one in the wild.

THE PROJECT
Our Inspiration for The Drop
This Limited Series was inspired by ongoing efforts to better understand wild turkey genetics and the rare variations that occur in the wild. Work being done in the field continues to uncover how traits like erythristic plumage persist and are passed from one generation to the next.
This project was built around that idea, capturing a moment that represents those genetics in motion. Proceeds from this auction directly support continued research and study focused on wild turkey populations and the traits that define them.

Getting your hands on a Limited Series decoy is tough…we know. So we’re adding a second option to own one for those who missed out.
We are keeping the first decoy from each drop and offering it as an auction item. This auction will help support conservation! The winner can also choose to have Dave Smith sign the decoy.

We ‘ve worked with Queue It to create a more fair and organized process, while keeping the website running smooth.
Lauch Date:Monday, December 30th
Queue Opens: 5:30 PM (PST)
Product Launch: 6:00 PM (PST)
Queue Opens: Between 5:30PM and 5:59PM PST, visit the Limited Series page and you will be redirected to the queue. This secures a spot in line and all you need to do is keep this window open.
Product Launch: At 6:00 PM PST every person in this queue will be given a randomly generated number that represents your place in line. Starting with the lowest number, you’ll be let through to have the opportunity to purchase one of the limited quantity decoys (limit 1 per customer). Anyone arriving after 6:00 PM will be placed at the end of the line.
Limited Out: Once all of the decoys have sold, everyone will be given a notification that the sale has ended.
