3/4 Strut Jake
Product Details
The DSD ¾ Strut Jake forever changed the turkey decoy market when we released him in 2009! He is our original and still our best selling gobbler decoy to date. His posture is DEADLY accurate and says that he wants to get with a hen but his small stature makes him a prime target for approaching gobblers and even other jakes. Set him up in the presence of one or more of our hen decoys and he is sure to draw some unwanted attention from other gobblers. His smaller size makes him ideal for many applications including run and gun style hunting.
Like all our turkey decoys, the ¾ Strut Jake is made out of our legendary A.C.E. Technology so he can withstand the countless beatings that are sure to come his way. There is no inflation required, so his rugged body will always hold it’s natural shape. Also like our other turkeys, he can even withstand an accidental shotgun blast or broadhead through the body with only minimal damage. Made in the U.S.A.
Includes: (1) ¾ Strut Jake, (1) Jake Turkey Stake, and (1) Camo Bag with Shoulder Strap
Decoy Weight (with bag and stake): 6lbs
Lucas Mason –
I have been turkey hunting for awhile and used different decoys how many componies and this one has worked the best. My dad and I went out and we didn’t just get one but we got a true double and I could believe how mad they got at it. And it took some hits and the paint don’t come off! We also paired it with the feeding hen and we had other hens walk up to it and “talk” to it. Hands best decoys and I plan on buying more.
Justin –
incredible decoy, compare these side by side with the competitor and their is no comparison. Love the jake decoy. Best decoy in my arsenal of turkey decoys.
Zack Lancaster –
This 3/4 strut Jake is by far the most effective decoy money can buy! The posture of this decoy does something to a gobbler that they just can’t stand.
Jeremy Booth –
Bought this decoy and the upright hen a few years back. Never once have I had a Gobbler not want to come in and challenge the jake. Because of this pair my nephew was able to harvest his first turkey on his first turkey hunt. 2 longbeards came in and attacked the jake for a few minutes before he was able to get a shot. ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!!
Matt –
I never write reviews but have to for this decoy. I got my jake a few weeks ago and am amazed at the detail. If you don’t know it’s fake, then you really can’t tell it’s fake, excluding the fact that it doesn’t have two legs. DSD decoys are top quality and cannot be surpassed.
roger –
Sometimes all it takes is a hen and this jake to fire that thunder chicken up. More than a dozen have fell to lead poisoning or arrow with this easy to carry setup. Coloration and detail is lifelike. It is almost too easy with these decoys.
Paul Waldon –
I have a whole flock of DSD turkeys that get deployed 15-20 times a season. The realism and durability are outstanding. The only thing that could wear out my jake is the spurs and wing beats from attacking toms!
Chris Downs –
I bought this decoy the first year they came out and have been using it on almost every hunt since then. The response from dominant birds is amazing. I’ve shot some of my biggest birds using this jake paired with a hen and even using the jake alone. It’s durable, looks great, and works!!!
Joe Seegars –
This decoy is great. I have been using it for three years now and have had success throughout the season in sc and in different environments. The decoy has held up fairly well even after taking several beatings from gobblers. The only issue that I have had was I was hunting in a hard soil field and when I was pushing the decoy on to the stake, it puts the body out a little bit. Overall I would recommend this to anyone. The only thing I really do not like is the camo pattern for the carry bag
Kevin H. –
Other than my shotgun, my DSD Jake decoy is the most effective tool in my ‘turkey hunting toolbox’. If I can get a gobbler in close enough to see it, 9 out of 10 times, that gobbler will come in to fight the decoy. Last spring, I even killed a gobbler as he sat on top of my jake decoy.
Tim S –
I started using a DSD 3/4 strut Jake in 2014. I have literally shot at least one turkey a year since off the back of the Decoy. Mature Toms absolutely can not stand a 3/4 strut Jake. Toms run in and start beating the decoy. The enjoyment I have received watching Tom’s interact with the decoy is worth the price I paid. DSD makes the best decoy hands down!
Derek Craig –
I tell guys all of the time … If you can only afford to buy one decoy … then this is the decoy to buy. This decoy is still money in the bank when it comes to pulling tom turkeys.
John Brower –
By far the best decoys out there. I have killed a number of long spurred birds that have come into this jake decoy without hesitation. Works great combined with the upright or feeding hen decoy.
Glen Bellew –
I have had the submissive jake for about 5 years. I don’t use it as often as I do my upright hen/feeding hen combo, but it has brought success. Occasionally, gobblers will be “jake shy” from a rogue group of jakes and it can make them flare from the set. But there are times when gobblers come right in looking for a fight. My Jake was shot (indirect hit) from about 15 yds away. I did have to glue the beak in place a little bit, but otherwise the decoy took the hit in stride. The decoy still rattles from the pellets stuck inside, but the turkeys don’t seem to mind!
Tate Larson –
I bought this Jake decoy to go along with my DSD upright hen. It has been a deadly pair. I have had great luck in early season with bringing in those groups of Jakes and also finding those lonely Toms. Cant say enough about lifelike it is and the durability is superb. Absolutely love my DSD decoys.
Ryan Beurskens –
Hunted turkeys for years, and once i hunted behind a set of dsd no other decoy on market even comes close to the realism as the dsd. By far hands down the best there is.
Hunter Bingaman –
The best decoys out there. I’ve tried them all and nothing compares to the realism and detail of these decoys. I hunt high pressured areas for turkeys and these are the only decoys that bring the turkeys in. You can’t go wrong with DSD.
Stan R. Jones –
I have used a competitors jake decoy for several years and thought it was the best I could do. Then I saw the Dave Smith version. This is the best most lifelike decoy on the market. Period. And it actually weighs less than my old inflatable jake. I have killed multiple gobblers over it. They hate it.
Terry Wagner –
I have been using the jake in conjunction with an upright hen and a feeding hen for 5 years. These are no doubt the best decoys I have ever seen or used. They far surpass the reality of any other plastic decoy on the market and they really rival stuffers for realism. When I used stuffers they were always a pain to transport and would look really good for a couple of trips. With the DSDs I have the realism of a stuffer PLUS they travel well and are not affected by the weather. Best of all they flat out work!
Joe Powell –
This is my go to decoy, I’ve been using this jake with a hen for 4 years and have had multiple toms attack it. Not only does it stand up to punishment of getting pecked and spurred but it still looks great. In my opinion this is the best decoy on the market.
dahattok –
I have been using this decoy for years now. In fact it is the original hard bodied one. It has been the death of many gobblers and held up well to the abuse it has been given. I would recommend this decoy and any of the DSD turkey decoys to anyone that turkey hunts! Get one and watch the show this Spring!
Roy Woods Jr. –
I purchased the 3/4 strut jake and upright hen 4 seasons ago and had immediate success. The very first time I used them I had a gobbler beat it so badly that the stake bent and Dave sent me a new one. My daughter killed her first bird standing on top of the jake and I killed 3 of the 4 birds in the grand slam last year using my Dave Smith jake and hen. The only one killed not using DSD’s was the Osceola and the outfitter simply wouldn’t let me use my own decoys! I’ve taken several people out that have never seen these decoys and they’ve never let me down. They are tough (the jake has turkey shot rattling around inside it) and the realism is unmatched. I don’t leave the truck without my DSD’s!
David Sisamis –
After years of frustration as a turkey bow hunter. I bought this decoy and one hen decoy to set up my version of spring jealousy. And I haven’t looked back since my purchase having killed birds in multiple states at all times of the season. I need my birds up close for my traditional archery ways and every season I’m always pleased at the amazing opportunities and memories that will stay with me for years to come. Thanks DSD!!!!!!
Barney W Thomas –
I was told that this decoy was the best thing for turkey hunting in ten years. I have not tried it yet. By looks alone and reputation, I am sure that it is true. The opener is in 4 weeks. We will see.
Matthew Tucker –
I shot my first turkey last year when a friend invited me out with him. He set up this jake and as soon as the sun came up we had a tom heading right for him! It took several minutes to make sure I was lined up on the real bird and not the decoy! I have hunted over DSD goose decoys before and know that they are incredible quality and the most life like realistic decoy on the market! Thanks for making quality products!!
Shelton Boggess –
Blows me away how real these decoys look. Super easy to transport the jake and hen combo. The decoys are doing their part, I just wish I was a better turkey hunter!!!
Joshua Marks –
You never have to worry about these decoys losing there shape. This is one of the most realistic decoys on the market and has drawn plenty of dominant birds into bow range. The color scheme and detailed markings are unmatched.
Jeremy Lawson –
Absolutely the best decoy available. The most realistic and effective decoy on the market. Combined with the breeding hen, a top killer setup. You will love it!
joel –
i’ve use this product for 4 years, wont be in field without it. toms come a running when they get site of this. i had one jake try to breed with it.
ljmelea –
Way too many gobblers probably wish they’ed never saw this bad boy.
Cliff Koziczkowski –
I have used this decoy for a few years now and it works great! The Toms just can’t stand to see this Jake with the hens! He has been beaten up a few times,. Still looks like new !
Darin Crooks –
The 3/4 strut decoy is awesome. DSD is by far the best decoy on the market. It will last forever and keep getting the job done!!
Adam Barnes –
Game changer. I decoy 10 times more mature toms with this Jake decoy than all the other junk decoys I’ve owned in the past combined. Want to kill more turkeys this season? Do your self a favor and get a DSD spread.
Ryan Williamson –
DSD’s are a game changer!!!! Best decoys on the market and customer service! I have the 3/4 jake, upright hen,and just received the new mating hen
Harrison Peyton –
Dave smith is the best decoy on the market. Light weigh and durable. Customer service is 2nd to none. I highly advise purchasing this decoy
Tara Leach –
I purchased the Dave smith 2 years ago and it is the best decoy on the market…. Light weigh and durable. Never once have I had a Gobbler not want to come in and challenge the jake. Other than my shotgun, my Dave Smith Decoy is the most effective tool. I have purchased many other name brand decoys and there is NO comparison!!! If you are looking for results then you must purchase Dave Smith Decoys I promise you, you wont regret it!!
Paul Scheidt –
The 3/4 Jake drives the long beards crazy. They’ll come looking to chase off the young intruder.
Paul Scheidt –
Have five different poses all have a place in the turkey fields
joe mcdougal –
What a game changer these decoys are! Being an archery turkey guide, these decoys have paid for themselves many times over. I’ve used numerous different decoys over the years including real mounted turkeys. Nothing compares in realism, quality, and longevity.
steve turigliatto –
When the gobblers see it, it’s all over but the shouting….Best Jake decoy on the market….Bar none!
Ben Molto –
Used this decoy on a guided turkey hunt (archery). We had a 26lbs Tom come running in for battle. Needless to say, we tagged that Tom. Everything about this decoy is realistic. Best most realistic decoy you can buy.
Bob Hayes –
This decoy and the whole line the best decoys period.I have been using these decoys since they first came out and still have the first ones I bought.I am a guide and do about 25 hunts plus a season. These will not only increase your gobbler take but will last for years after riding in trucks, packing in and out and getting shot repeatedly.
Well worth whatever the price when they hold up this long.
Scott Dillon –
amazing…. that sums it up
Scot Bullinger –
I have the Jake… with alert hen, feeding hen which l’ve add motion to and the leading hen. The set up is the “love triangle” with the leading hen off the group. Draws the Toms in like a magnet.
Scot Bullinger –
I have the Jake… with alert hen, feeding hen which l’ve added motion to and the leading hen. The set up is the “love triangle” with the leading hen off the group. Draws the Toms in like a magnet.
Gizzard –
Incredible decoy. I’ve brought gobblers from long distances with the Jake decoy. Big Toms can’t resist!
C. C. Gallo –
This one is my favorite of all. It has never scared one off but it sure has fired plenty up.
Fred Maxie –
Love my DSD jake, so realistic it will make you jump when you look back at it
DANIEL ADKINS –
Have used DSD decoys for 4 years now and will not hunt without them. Toms don’t think twice about coming in and challenging the Jake!! Love them
Craig Young –
The BEST jake decoy on the market and I’ve tried just about every one that is out there. Nothing compares to the realism in both posture and color scheme. Durability is unmatched as well. Mine is VERY battle weary and has several “scars” from attacking toms. Paired with the submissive hen, and this set becomes an instance magnet for mature toms.
Jason Haga –
I had the privilege of winning a jake decoy 3 years ago at a DU dinner. The realism of the decoy is incredible looking in a field or in the woods. I’ve had hens, jakes and long beards come up to it. Recommend giving this guy and other DS decoys a try.
Jared Mobley –
The DSD Jake has changed the way we hunt. I have always had great success killing bird but before I purchased my DSDs, I was nervous shooting birds 30-40 yards out. Now we consistently kill ticked off birds inside on 15 yards.
Jacob Thomas –
By far the best decoy I have ever used , it’s crazy what a decoy can do ! Hunted all season long with my avians , once my dad was tagged out I was able to use his jake , both my tags filled in 2 hunts . Nothing changed other than the decoy , it’s amazing !
Leaha Anderson –
We have a few of the Dave Smith Decoys (submissive hen, upright hen, feeding hen, leading hen, tom and jake). Out of all of the decoys we have, the Jake is my favorite. It is the most functional when paired with the submissive hen. It is smaller and lighter, so it’s easier to carry compared to the tom.
Brad Heine –
Best decoys out there!! I’ve got the jake decoy and he’s been pounded by multiple turkeys, we’ve shot 3 birds from literally on top of this decoy. If that doesn’t speak for the realism of the decoy I don’t know what does. Not only that but my decoy has been shot in the head by a broadhead and it still works flawlessly, rugged decoys and super mobile for some good run and gun hunts
Trevor Pullum –
My neighbor let me borrow his dsd Jake. He told me how great it would work but I thought its just another decoy. The next morning I had a giant longbeard at 10 yards trying to kill this dsd Jake. I had never seen a bird react like he did to this decoy. Honestly I have never bought one because every time I am about to the price tag makes me double take. No doubt they are worth every penny I am just scared to do it. Awesome product. I will just keep hitting up my neighbor lol
JUSTIN MEYERS –
Put this side by side with any other turkey decoy at the store. Simply the best there it. Mine is years old and has held up very well. The realism and quality is evident. Get the best and this is it. If you take one, make it this decoy.
Ty Lester –
If you can get this decoy to where a Tom will see it he will. come running in every time to whoop this jakes butt. The body position just triggers a gobblers aggression.
Ty Lester –
If you can get this decoy to where a Tom will see it he will. come running in every time to whoop this jakes butt.
Mike Morris –
I’ve owned them all and this decoy is hands down the best on the market. Almost every bird that commits will come face to face with it. If you bowhunt, it’s a must have.
Troy White –
I’ve had the DSD Jake for one season and he did not disappoint. My son bagged his first longbeard using the 3/4 Strut Jake. Once that Ol’ Tom lock eyes on him it was GAMEOVER! We enjoyed watching the Tom size up the competition as he side stepped around him 360° before getting a 5 shot slap in the face.
Shawn Dresel –
For several years I used the cheap decoys because “I wanted to save money.” After years of eating my tag I finally committed to making a change. I did my homework, read the reviews, watched the videos and the fingers pointed to Dave Smith Decoys so I saved my money every month and bought a DSD jake, another month I bought a DSD feeding hen, for Christmas my wife bought me a breeder hen and I felt set. April 17, 2017 the 1st day of WI turkey season at 8:32am I killed a 25.8 pound gobbler, 11” beard and 1&5/8” spurs. He came in silent and destroyed the jake. I firmly believe decoys make a difference, spend the money take the plunge. Buy these made in America decoys and I promise you that you wont regret it!!
John new –
If it was any more realistic it would have been hatched
Tyler Ennis –
I have been using DSD decoys for two years now and they work great. They are extremely realistic looking and durable. I end up moving around throughout the day and I’m able to fit the Jake and a hen in the DSD bags to make a quick move and quickly set up. The big gobblers come right in and start whooping on the Jake and he holds up to the beating. I like that I can set the decoy up so it rotates in the wind or use the rubber gasket to lock it in place when I want it in a specific location.
Jacob Knutson –
Great product, and so realistic. I have had so much success with the jake and submissive hen.
Keagan Strange –
I bowhunted a group of very well educated turkeys for 4 years with no luck. Finally decided to invest in the 3/4 strut jake and a feeder hen from DSD, and honestly could not be more impressed. A friend and I ended up harvesting two of the educated toms within a day of each other, both within 15 yards (no blind). The only thing I have had issues with is the stake bending from toms flogging the decoy. Hard to complain with that issue. Overall fantastic product and customer service.
Scott Rolffs –
I’ve had this Jake for several years now. Very life like features with amazing and realistic paint finish. This decoy is tough and mine has taken a couple arrows but still as good as new. Best turkey decoy money can buy.
Bryan W –
My wife got me this decoy when they first came out. I love this thing. Hunting in NE we get easterns, merriams and hybrids. Works on all of them. It has held up beautifully as well. Looks as good as when I got it.
Matt Gorecki –
This is the most realistic turkey decoy I’ve ever seen. When in the sun the paint actually exudes an iridescent effect, like the feathers on a real turkey. When “Tommy” sees this guy, he will charge right past my hen decoy wanting to fight.
Neil Strandberg –
I can only guess how many Toms this Jake decoy has helped me harvest. They just love to come on and kick his tail feathers ! Absolutely love all my DSD decoys.
Gerald D Martin –
By far the best decoy to attract a gobbler that I have ever owned. For several years I have always purchased the latest and the greatest decoy I could afford. After time and time again of birds being spooked by my set up I decided to spend the extra money on a decoy that looked as real as it gets, DSD Jake was the answer!
I have never had birds react to a decoy the way they do for this one. No matter how I set this decoy up in my spread, the gobblers respond in a way that allows me to harvest a mature bird. I bought this decoy 4 years ago and every year it has allowed me to take a gobbler or two and even some for my buddies. One year in particular we harvested 4 birds from the same field using the DSD decoys. THANK YOU for such a great product! DSD will always be my decoy of choice! I now own 4 DSD turkey decoys including the leading hen, feeding hen, submissive hen and plan on getting the strutter soon.
Matt Kelly –
I love my DSD jake decoy! I pair it with my upright hen and it’s a great set up!
Steven Morton –
Best jake decoy on the market. Have had many birds come in ready to pick a fight with this “jake”. Especially effective in field situations or where you have a dominate bird hanging up. Super realistic paint job and anatomically correct posture!
Ian Eckerstorfer –
Being a military spouse, I have to maximize my time spent back home in the upper midwest. I plan my hunts around soil temps for planting spring plots as much as season dates. This usually means i’m hunting late season birds in Wisconsin. 5 years in a row i have killed weary, call shy, decoy shy bird over this decoy. Realistic, durable, and reliable my ongoing success is a direct result of these qualities from Dave Smith decoys.
R. Clark –
Best decoy I’ve ever seen and used! Longbeards have a hard time resisting when used in conjunction with a hen decoy.
Darren Bierman –
Bought this decoy last year before my Kansas trip. It made a firm believer out if me on the first day. Best money I have ever spent on a decoy hands down.
Josh Estridge –
Realist decoy I’ve ever seen. The quality and detail is unmatched.
Brant –
Was hunting with a buddy had half hour left to go in the hunt, just about to call it a day. All of a sudden Tom comes running at the decoy jumps on top of the decoy and pecks the decoy my buddy shot it with his bow and blew the turkey back 3 feet! I swear by good decoys makes the difference!
Jeff Easton –
I have the upright hen from years ago, as well as the Jake that I started using a couple years ago. Me and my friend would just put the hen on the ground and then place the Jake as close to the hen…essentially making a crude, but SO effective breeding pair. I have had Toms RUN from 300 yards out after seeing my decoys in this configuration, and so fooled by them that I was able to make archery shots at less than 10 yards. I love my decoys…so much in fact that when I was in a bad auto accident, my Jake decoy was basically skewered by the stake, and unhuntable. I had Dave take it, and he was able to remove the stake, and attach another beard (no way to attach a photo)….some people at DSD may have seen it with the impaled stake!! Top notch AMERICAN MADE products, made for the hunter, by hunters. You will only buy them once, because you will never have an issue with quality….EVER. An actual mating hen decoy would be great, because once the fighting starts, the hen usually gets knocked over.
Tanner Buchman –
Bought this jake and an upright hen last year to retire my old Primos decoys. Worth every nickel!!
Preston Lee –
The most realistic decoy that’s out there by far.. I’ve been turkey hunting for 5 years and had the opportunity to take a gobbler or two with this bad boy. Look forward to the 18′ season and hopefully I’ll receive the breeding hen to help seal the deal once again!
Ray Spangler –
Great looking durable decoy. Holds up well even after years of use.
Scott –
This 3/4 Jake is definitely a game changer in a field when a hung up load beard finds out a younger non dominant bird is taking his ladies… I have killed several birds with. Gobblers leaving hens to come whip up on my 3/4 jake decoy. Set this up and be ready at anytime for birds to come running.
Michael Appel –
I have used many turkey decoys over the years and have harvested many turkeys. I’ve used the Flambeau, stuffers, Avian X, etc. Nothing pulls in turkeys like the DSD decoys. I’ve watched many turkeys in an obsessed rage come on a straight line to these decoys. Even had a Tom standing on top of this jake pecking at it. Best decoys on the market by far. Great investment!!!
William Robinson –
My DSD jake has turkey pubes stuck to his back from getting humped. It’s pretty gross. And awesome.
sam.brostturner –
Wouldn’t waste my time taking any other decoy into the field with me… Hand-painted, great durability and AMERICAN MADE. Currently have the 3/4 jake and the upright hen, looking to add another bird to spread this season. Last year these decoys helped put the hammer down on six birds… Simply put, DSD’s produce.
Jeff Channell –
Most realistic Jake decoy you can buy! Highly recommend!
Mike –
Great decoys I have use dsd for years and they still look awesome
Isaak –
DSD Dcoys are the real deal! No longer will you have long beards held up at 100 yards with these realistic decoys. I can say from experience that these decoys with bring you a show to watch well within shooting range!
Bryce lamb –
You won’t have to buy another one. Look awesome and very durable. Pretty sure these can be handed down to the next generation… spend the extra $30-$40 now and pass it on. You won’t be disappointed!
Kevin Mahan –
Great decoy. Love the ACE material. Haven’t hunted over any other decoys for turkeys so nothing else to compare it to but these decoys look great and get the job done. Second to none!
zach weddle –
This jake is my go to. Nothing brings the Toms in on a rope like this jake hanging out with their hens. If you can find the turkeys this jake will do the rest and they’ll be in your lap in no time.
Braedyn –
Good decoy to use, definitely durable and looks great!
Jerry Nicholson –
Light weight, easy to carry, withstands the abuse of birds and heavy use of Spring and Fall hunting. The DSD jake has spelled the end of many birds.
Doug Short –
Would love to say I own one myself But had the chance to hunt with a friend who does great setup and the birds came right to the decoy allowing my 8 year old to take his first turkey. Thanks
William Shipley –
I took my older brother turkey hunting with me back in april of 2016.
This was a hunt that will always be with us for a lifetime. We were fortunate enough to have doubled on two big ole tom’s.
Using THE DSD jake and upright hen it was more than the two tom’s could bear.
They quickly went from the field to the fryer
THANKS DSD!!!!!!!!!!!
Brandon Langlois –
Best decoys on the market. The fit and finish on these are simply amazing. They’ve helped me kill several birds with a bow at 5 yds out of a blind. Once they lock onto these decoys it’s over!!!
thor –
i love the detail in the decoys but i’m not a fan of the stakes. I would love to see a new design for a stake that had a spring located somewhere in the middle that would give to decoy motion with any wind. I really think this would put the decoys over the top. The stakes just need a little play in them to give some motion.
Mark Jenkins –
After owning another brand and having numerous issues DSD’s are are breath of fresh “AIR” no inflating, Made In America pride as well as craftsmanship. I am proudly a lifetime DSD consumer now. The attention to detail on each decoy is second to none also if a stray pellet hits the decoys no harm is done and you aren’t left flat in the field. Carry bags are also well constructed for years of use. The jake most times is more than a gobbler can handle especially when paired with a mating hen.
carl paskey –
my wife got me the Jake and hen decoy a few years ago for father’s day, by far the most amazing decoys that I have ever used, I have been chasing birds for 30 plus years and have never had birds react to a decoy like this before, last year my 7 year daughter got the chance to kill her first bird, we were in a blind and the two birds came out around 300 yards away, made one call and they turned and came running to the decoys. I have since had at least 4 other people look at them and purchased them. I will continue to buy these decoys
Joe Garbarino –
These decoys are so life like. I am amazed at the response it gets from turkeys and other animals. I have had mine attacked by coyotes and crows. This is the best gear on the market.
William A Moore –
My wife got the jake for me for an anniversary present and I find it is beyond expectations. Details are wonderful and it draws birds like a magnet
Garrett –
Best Jake decoy I’ve used so far. Had both jakes and toms trying to fight this decoy the past couple of years!
Carlos Arruda –
Best decoy I have ever used !
The Toms come running I went out and bought a second one .
Nathan Budsberg –
Well made decoy paint holds up well realistic as it gets drives Toms crazy after owning DSD I would never buy anything else. They only one decoy.
Mike –
This decoy is the BEST Tom killer I have ever used, period!
Ranse Reynolds –
I only have a couple of the decoys, but that works fine for the area I hunt. These decoys are so realistic, if there are turkeys in the area, this will definitely draw attention.
Timothy J Heckenlively –
From the time I started using the DSD Jake, my success rate greatly increased. Basically,, if the birds see the decoy, they come right in, unalarmed and close! Best decoys I have ever used and great quality.
Chris –
I use the DSD jake decoy along with the mating hen. Toms and Jakes alike can’t handle seeing another bird breeding a hen in front of them. This decoy is awesome for bringing in the dominant Gobblers, but also works great for coaxing in those slightly less aggressive subordinate Toms. I’ve watched many birds go down over this set up. It’s deadly!!
Ryan Grass –
Awesome decoy. Stands up to serious gobbler beatings and 3 years later still looks brand new.
Adam dorr –
I am reluctant to give up my secret weapon , so the best review I can give whould be none , but I can’t win doing that so here goes,… do not buy these decoys they are no good , you will hate them I repeat please do not buy these I do not want the competition , I hear flambeau makes a great decoy try them …
Trever Harkness –
3/4 Struter Decoy – bought this last year …. I only used this decoy …. no others and what a difference this made with approaching gobblers. As soon as the saw this decoy ….. they ran in to fight. I hunt with a bow …. so the gobblers concentrated on fighting with the decoy ….. it made the shot very easy.
I would recommend the products … hands down.
Mike Rowland –
I have the 3/4 Strut Jake Decoy. It is the best decoy that I have ever used. The gobblers really we’re attracted to the decoy. I was about to harvest 2 nice gobblers while using the 3/4 Strut Jake Decoy. The detail and colors are very life like. I really like my decoy. Thanks for making a great product.
Brent Schroder –
This is the most realistic Jake decoy available. Very tough material. Gobblers can’t resist this decoy along with the Feeding hen decoy. It has taken a beating over the years and is still holding up strong! Had a coyote take it down once!!
Michael Little –
Realism at its best. Awesome decoys. Birds come running and react great to them. Best decoys on the market !
Brock Boldt –
The DSD jake has been a game changer. Dave Smith decoys are hands down the best on the market!
Josh McDaniel –
Great product we killed 12 birds off this 3/4 strut Jake last spring all with archery equipment!!
Dennis –
This is absolutely the best jake decoy I have ever used! Place it where you want your longbeard to end up. Perfect for filming hunts. At least a dozen gobblers have been killed over mine since I got it 4 years ago.
Craig –
Borrowed 1 of these decoys from a friend – “Wow” is all that I can say. The paint and detail on the Dave Smith Decoys is second to none! These decoys look ultra realistic, including the shine on the body in the sun. You definitely need to add 1 of these to your arsenal!
Josh Kettl –
Best Jake decoy there is! This thing drives old gobblers nuts
Greg DeWeese –
Beautiful jake decoy which fools all birds.
Dave Kelch –
I purchased the DSD 3/4 strut jake decoy, along with the upright hen, and also the feeding hen a number of years ago. OMG!! So realistic and stakes that actually work!! Have used them annually for the past few years in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Florida with 100% success!! Never had a bird become decoy shy, and called in toms for myself, my wife my son and my daughter. Two years ago, our son had graduated from college, became and RN, found the love of his wife (also a turkey hunter) and asked me if I’d give him MY DSD decoys as an extra wedding present!! Well, needless to say, I did (the upright hen had a few #5 shot rolling around in her from a tight shot on a gobbler) and I went right out to Cabela’s and was lucky enough to purchase all three (both hens and jake) on their after season price mark down!!
Hunted over NEW DSD’s last spring, and called in my wife’s Osceloa for her, which gave her the Grand Slam!! Thanks DSD for a GREAT product——and so realistic I’m half afraid to use the jake in a public area!!!
Mike Malone –
This jake decoy has pulled in many weiry toms for me. It has be a great addition to my decoy spread.
joe –
I have been nothing but impressed with this decoy, the way these birds react simply amazes me every time. The 3/4 strut jake matched with the upright hen are a deadly combo, just need the mating hen to finish it off. I will not go out to the turkey bush without them, you guys nailed it on this decoy. Keep up the good work! Can’t wait to get in the bush for the 2018 season.
Jim –
I have used the other brands of decoys and none of them can compare to these. Best of on the market.
Mike Adamson –
Just purchased this bad boy for the up coming season. Can’t wait to see a big Tom come after him!!
Troy Haskett –
I use this decoy along with the upright hen and have had great success over the last few years. When guys ask what decoys I use I tell them, Dave Smith decoys, and then I’ll show them. Hands down best decoys out there.
Richard Jones –
Once I received the Jake last year I was convinced my friend was right, DSD has the most realistic decoys we have seen! I haven’t got a kill over one yet but 3 of my friends have. It was just as much fun watchen the birds have a fit over these decoys as anything. Can’t wait to get the whole collection.
Kirsten Godfrey –
Hard to beat the trusty ol Jake and hen set up! I use my DSD Jake and DSD hen set up every year and it brings in a fired up gobbler every time! I also have the Tom set up and it’s incredible how lifelike these decoys look! They are hardy, lifelike, and do the trick every time! Thanks DSD!!
Mike Faught –
Ive used this decoy for 3 years now. Used a bow the first two years. The first year I missed a big mature Tom over it after watching the Tom beat on the decoy for 5 minutes. My friend shot a bigger Tom the next day. The second year I shot the same Turkey I missed the year before (I sliced tail feathers the year before, made him distinctive.). Watched him and another Tom beat on the decoy for about 5 minutes. Last year I shot a 2 year old Tom with a crossbow after watching 4 of them beat this decoy for about 7-8 minutes . He was standing on top of the decoy when I shot him. I asked my friend if he wanted me to load the crossbow again and shoot another, they were still attacking the decoy and the dead turkey.. He waited to shoot one with a bow another day. The number of birds that have attacked this decoy is unreal. It still looks like new. It is the only decoy I use. No hens at all. Toms and Jakes just seem to hate him…..
George LaBonte –
There is no doubt this decoy closes the gap faster and more often than any other decoy I’ve used over many years of turkey hunting. The one thing that I don’t see people realize often is how much more enjoyable it is to have a true “live looking bird” in your spread while hunting. I enjoy taking high quality photos and video of real birds in the spread during a hunt and these images are so much better with these quality decoys mixed in! The fact that they work birds more effectively doesn’t hurt either? Worth every penny!

Love these decoys. Bought the original upright hen (lovingly named “Jenny”) in 2008 (original hard plastic). Jenny was joined by the original Jake (named “Jake”) in 2009. They’re a little bulky to be carrying out to the woods, but the detail, quality and success rate cannot be denied. Jake has been “beat up” almost every year. Every year, I have to repaint his eyes with gloss black paint. Jake and Jenny always pull ’em in.
James Barton –
I don’t own any Dave Smith Decoys, but I had the opportunity to hunt with a long time friend for the very first time. He owns the 1/2 strut Jake and feeding hen! All I can say is WOW!!! I called in 2 hens and 50 yds behind them a Big Tom! As soon as he was able to see these decoys he started running straight at the Jake, it’s the most fierce Tom I have ever seen! He weighed 23lb with 1 5/8 spurs 11 1/4 beard! His biggest to date! Thank You Dave Smith!
Kyle Fleener –
My DSD Jake was a complete game changer when it comes to Bowhunting turkeys. The realism always brings them into under 10yds every time so we can make that perfect shot. Even my 86 yr old Grandpa for a split second gets confused with them being real birds!! Thanks for a great product! Keep it up!
JR Kenyon –
Love your turkey decoys! We used to pack full body mounts around bowhunting….no need now. Thanks. The only thing negative I can say, is that they were hard to get. Everyone was out. When I did get my jake, the paint wasn’t as good as my friends. Maybe rushed??
Buck Kline –
This is a deadly decoy on closing the deal on a long beard. I occasionally use a Dave Smith hen decoy with this decoy. However, I often carry only this 3/4 strutter. Since using this decoy, my son and I both have bagged our three Virginia gobblers. The realism and durability is great! Two seasons ago, I was working a group of gobblers in when the decoy was attacked by a mature bald eagle. After knocking the decoy down and realizing his mistake the eagle flew off. I continued to call to the gobbler group with the decoy now lying prone. Within minutes a nice double bearded gobbler was on the ground.
TJ Downes –
One of my favorite jake decoys ever. It’s non-threatening and the realism is amazing! Paired with a hen decoy, this becomes irresistible to toms. This decoy made me fall in love with DS Decoys!
Steve –
Been using this decoy for a couple years now and it works great. It has been mauled by turkeys, shot and it shows no sign of damage. Great looking and long lasting decoy.
Eric Buhr –
This decoy absolutely changed my turkey hunting! Bought one of the 3/4 strut jakes maybe 10 years ago and it has been a turkey KILLER–including a tripleheader! Toms respond to this in remarkable fashion. I have seen them enter a field at 80 yards following a hen, lay eyes on this decoy, duck their head and assume an aggressive posture and then run to the decoy and start beating on it. I have had gobblers jump on top and try to mate with it. Crazy interactions with this decoy like no other I had used before. I set this up at 15 yds and have killed toms with a 20 gauge youth shotgun and factory full choke for the past 6 seasons. No need for the long-range turkey gun when this decoy is deployed!
Mark –
Fantastic decoy! Truly realistic. Toms come running to attack this intruder!! Just awesome.
Craig wall (verified owner) –
Just received my 3/4 strut jake and it is fantastic! Could not be happier with it so far! Very lifelike, true coloring, size, everything. Season opens in a few weeks and I hope to really let it earn its keep here in North Georgia.
ron-karen –
Having hunted Turkey’s with a Bow & Arrow for many years (never have hunted them with a gun), I have owned and used many different brands and styles of Decoys. IMHO nothing compares to the look and performance of Dave Smith Decoys, I place my Jake Decoy where I want my shot to be and those Tom’s just come right in and stand beside it looking it over prior to attaching it. Have had better results with these decoys than any other I have ever used and have had more success also. Ron Rockwell
Jimmy –
When you graduate to a dsd decoy, you have reached your destination as far as the decoy aspect of your hunting gear goes. Next year’s catalogs pages of decoys are only skimmed through to see if there is a new dsd that you do not have, the quality into the detail of each one is as consistant as if they were cloned in a lab. My DSD jake decoy has never failed to deliver a long beard to a full choke facial. Not only is the detail of the DSD jake top tier but its tough as well, just in case you happen to mistakingly shoot it waking from a mid morning nap.
Timothy Billet –
I have the feeding hen, the upright hen and the 3/4 jake. I absolutely love them! My only beef with them is that they are tough to carry in. However, I knew what I was getting into when I bought them. And the fact that I know I have the best looking decoys short of the real thing far or weighs that issue. So thanks DSD!
T.J. Forrester –
I’ve been hunting turkeys in Oregon since 1988. My 3/4 jake is by far the best decoy I’ve ever owner or used. I switched to bow hunting a few years a go and the jake will pull them in nice and close (like 6-8 yds) for a good vitals shot nearly every time. Saving my dimes for a hen or two to go with the jake! These decoys are worth every penny. You just can’t go wrong with them!
Todd R. “The Turkenator” –
I have hunted turkeys since the 1970’s. I have seen many types of decoys on the market over the years. When I saw Dave’s booth at the NWTF Convention back when his only decoy for sale was the Upright Hen, I knew one had to go home with me. That hen was so effective for me I knew my flock would grow as money was available. Now I have four different poses. My “go to” decoy is the 3/4 Strut Jake. He is like a gobbler magnet and has seen a lot of abuse. He has been spurred, pecked, wing slapped, mated and hit with shot more than once, but he still looks and performs great! DSD Decoys are the gold standard of the decoy world and I will always have one in my “Bag of Tricks”.
Roy –
Take it from me these are the best way to get tag filled on pressured birds. Birds interact with decoys staying in spread long enough to enjoy the view before taking your shot. I have guided hunts with many brands, and nothing compares to DSD.
Tony –
I’ve used other decoys for years and never had much luck with them. First day out with this decoy and 2 jakes fought it for 10 minutes. The second day out with it, my dad and I tagged out after 2 mature toms came storming in. It may not fold down and is a little bulky to carry around but it’s well worth it.
RD –
My Jake has been abused by birds across the US. Durable and deadly
John Bowlin –
I have 3 DSD turket decoys. I either use 2 hens alone or one hen and 3/4 Jake. Toms cannot resist coming in to hassle the Jake. I’ve killed or brought to the gun over a dozen longbeards with this set up. Best decoys made, period!
Brad Jordan –
Gobblers cannot stand the jake decoy with a hen decoy. I usually place the jake about 6-8 feet away from the hen decoy but facing the hen.
Travis S –
By far the most realistic decoy on the market. I have the 3/4 strut Jake and have killed multiple birds within 10 yds as they are on top of this deke. The material is second to none as well, as I have put a few stray pellets into mine and can’t even tell on the exterior.
Jay McClanahan –
I have probably killed a dozen or more gobblers over the DSD 3/4 Jake. I can honestly say that out of all the birds I have seen while using it, I have only ever had maybe 3 gobblers to see it and not run directly in to it. They just simply can’t stand it.
Rich Newman –
In my opinion a realistic Jake decoy is the most important decoy in your arsenal for spring turkeys. The DSD 3/4 strut Jake is the best on the market!
Dane –
Huge DSD decoy fan. The realism in this decoy is like no other. The Toms can’t resist it. My hats off to Dave Smith and his team for an awesome decoy
Doss Earnest –
This decoy is a must have! I have had more turkeys at point blank range in the one season with this jake and the upright hen than I had in the previous 5 without them. Realism matters. This decoy has created so many awesome encounters for me, I only hate I didn’t buy one sooner. Great product
Mathew Miller –
I have killed many birds with this decoy. I usually set a dsd upright hen right on the ground with the jake about 4 feet behind. I sometimes have to chase Jakes away that won’t get off of my decoys. These work great for field hunting.
Travis Wiechec –
Most realistic decoys on the market. There’s nothing like seeing an old mad long beard spotting the 3/4 Jake with a hen and watching him run in a dead sprint to him to try and take the hen. These decoys make it a whole lot easier getting big birds into easy shooting range.
Brad Olinger –
I had sporadic success with turkeys prior to getting the DSD Jake. I am not the world’s best caller and struggled with birds hanging up at 80 yards and not finishing. Since getting the Jake my success has skyrocketed. I call enough to get them in a position to see the decoys, then I put my call down and watch the show!! Highly recommend!!
Brian Withers –
This decoy looks amazing but I believe it is the posture that makes it a true killer. Gobblers seem to come running in looking to fight. Top notch decoys.
Mark –
Had heard of the DS decoys before but had never hunted over them till last year with buddy. What a game changer, we used the 3/4 strut jake. Let’s just say the toms were not a fan…. but we sure were! Great product and design.
Trevor –
Had no issue working many mature birds last season.
Dave warners –
I purchased the DSD Jake 3 years ago, in that time this Jake has been on 13 successful hunts. The craftsmanship that was put into this decoy is amazing! This decoy has had his butt kicked numerous times and still looks great. I am very satisfied with this decoy and would highly recommend it.
Thank you DSD
Steve Terry –
Own 3 of the DSD turkeys and this is my favorite.
Brian Dirks –
Best Jake on the market. We have used it by itself and with a flock of hens, 1 submissive and 2 feeding. It is a strait killer. It is a must have.
When using with Submissive hen, I like to sit the Jake behind her about 5′.
Dominic Hebert –
This decoy is awesome and every turkey hunter need this decoy. Best looking jake on the market.
Kevin –
This thing is so lifelike, we all know that. It is also very durable. Mine has been flogged by countless gobblers, but also unwittingly took 2 loads from a 20-gauge shotgun, from someone that was not supposed to be there. Fortunately I had gotten up and taken off after a bird that decided to go the other way. My decoy has shot embedded in the surface, and a few that made it into the body cavity, but absolutely looks great to this day. The perpetrator was found and admitted to the attack. The decoy continues to bring in birds to this day. Buy this thing. It has magnetic attraction for big toms, and can take any abuse a turkey can dish out.
Devin carter –
A lot of turkeys would still be alive if I didn’t have this decoy!
Jordan Webb –
Best looking decoy I’ve ever seen. It fools gobblers and keeps them fooled even as they are spurring the crap out of it and strutting around it inches away. Keep their attention while you get lined up for a shot.
Also very durable. Had it for about 4 years now and have killed dozens of turkeys over it in CA. Still looks great even having been attacked and knocked around by big gobblers.
Benji Thompson –
I purchased this bird for a go to when hunting new or unscouted ground or setting up blind. It works great for decoy all Toms(jakes, nondominate gobblers, and dominate birds) paint is great, easy to handle works great in feeding setup or breeding set up.
Phil –
Best decoys money can buy. My Jake has been beat multiple times by long beards that are now on the wall
Josh –
3 words : Effective, durable, American. That is all
Mitch –
Thought they shipped me a real jake when I opened the box. Detail and paint is incredible. Light enough for long hauls in
Hunter rye –
Single-handedly the greatest tool you can use to get birds in close! I would rather forget my calls at home than to leave my DSD jake
Joseph Taylor –
Best decoys on the market. Just starting turkey hunting 2 years ago and bought the Jake and a hen. I have harvested a bird both years at less than 10 yards.
Clay Wiatrek –
Game changer!
Shawn Stahl –
If you want the best results, you have to use the best tools. These Jake’s have unmatched realism that drive gobblers crazy.
Kenny Bird –
This decoy has absolutely changed turkey hunting for me.
I use this jake with a upright DSD hen and our kills have went way up.
I have taken 3 hunters that never killed a bird and each time we pulled a Tom away from a hen were in the past I never could pull one away from a hen.
The quality and detail is unbelievable!
Dave Miller –
I bought an original hen from a NWTF banquet when the decoy was still a prototype.
I had to wait for the very first production run for it to ship.
I knew the minute i saw it, that i wanted one.
My kids and I killed several birds over it.
I bought 2 more hens, that i gave away as gifts. One went to Southern Oregon, the other to Missouri.
Both of those have had multitudes of birds killed over it.
So many of these were kid and first time hunters!
When the first Jake became available, I picked one up to go with my hen, and I couldn’t believe how well it worked.
If the birds saw the decoys, they came in. Period.
I almost always just use my Jake, but he’s the original hard plastic, and my nephew shot him on a passthrough last spring, so he’s going to get retired, and I’ll be replacing him with a breeding pair.
There just isn’t anything else out there that’s as good as a DSD!
They’re simply the best of the best!
John Kopek –
A couple years ago my wife and I were hunting some public land. We had a Leading hen and a Feeding hen. We were having troubles pulling the mature toms away from the real hens. I had wanted to order the 1/4 strut Jake and had waited too long to order. Almost all retailers were sold out. I finally found one online, but it would only arrive to us for the final weekend of the state we were hunting in. The night before our final Saturday hunt we had put to bed 2 mature toms, who were picking on a Jake before roost. The next morning we got set up long before the birds started gobbling in the limbs. We had set up all 3 of our DSD decoys. We had taken the leading hen off her stake and placed her on the ground and placed the 1/4 strut Jake behind her, too look like he was gettin ready to mount her. The first bird we heard that morning was the Jake off in another tree in front of us. About 5 minutes later the mature birds started gobbling. That went on for only about 5 minutes. I thought I heard them fly down, but wasn’t positive. The Jake was gobbling as he came to my yelps, but we didn’t hear the mature birds. All of the sudden my wife whispered that see could see birds to our right. I slowly turn my head to my right just in time to see both mature birds go into full strut just as they popped out of the woods. They immediately see the 1/4 strut Jake and haul tail over to him and start working him over, just as you see it on TV. Let’s just say those 2 mature birds got a free ride on the back of our truck, due to their distaste in the 1/4 strut Jake decoys. Thank you for the great product. If it wasn’t for your decoys, my wife and I would mostly have not doubled on those 2 mature late season birds.
ducker1 –
One of the best decoys I have ever used. Toms can’t resist! I’ll never head to the woods without it. Well done DSD.
Reed Cherry –
Most realistic looking turkey decoys I have ever seen. I bought the 3/4 strut jake and the feeding hen. They both appear to be very well made. Should last a long time. I love how the stake stores in the decoy. The storage bag is a nice touch as well. These decoys may be more expensive but are better quality, better looking, and should last longer than other brands.
Fred Demag –
Absolutely love this decoy. I own this decoy , the strutter, lead hen and feeding hen. This set up drives longbeards crazy and they can’t resist themselves, that have to come in to fight . My wife and I have shot several Vermont gobblers using these decoys, and will never use anything else. Thank you for such a realistic and durable decoy.
Ryan Reynolds –
Awesome product, this is by far my favorite decoy on there line as well, every Turkey seems to want to take on the Jake
Pezman38 –
I have hunted over a DSD Jake in three different states, paired with a DSD hen these can’t be beat. They take a beating too and still look great.
ken eisch –
Excellent decoys, last year had 3 Jakes run up from 50 yds to it paired with upright hen. Last week had a tom in full strut come in over the snow drifts for 70 yds. Put 15 pellets in it once and never found a hole. They look so good I display them on a shelf in my den in the off season.
Dale Edwards –
Killed a nice gobbler Monday at 9 AM, as he beat the dickens out of my DSD jake decoy.
Dan Mallia –
We call this Jake “old reliable” as we’ve taken a lot of birds over this decoy. Tried and true, makes gobblers jealous. Countless times I’ve had tons bypass the hen decoys to attack the Jake decoy.
Arthur Borschowa (verified owner) –
The toms hate this decoy but I love it. It has been abused multiple times by them and still looks new. First time I used it three long beards took turns attacking it until they knocked it over.
Jonathan Sivert –
I grew up hunting with a foam, foldable decoy that likely made Toms laugh. I get back into turkey hunting after returning to the States, and read about the quality of DSD turkeys, I bought this 3/4 Jake. I set up on a Tom who came in hot and heavy. He hung up about 45 yards away on a logging road. Well, until he saw my Jake. Dropped him at 15 yards as he marched in for a fight. No other decoys for me!
Bryan Sheehan (verified owner) –
Very very detailed feather and paint scheme!! I ordered the upright and feeding hen super stoked about the detail and quality of These turkey decoys!!
Travis Lilly –
I have a few things to say. First off, this decoy is simply incredible. A gobbler cannot stand the sight of this decoy and has to come show it who’s boss. The second thing concerns the customer service which is second to none! One of those big ol’ gobblers recently had it out with my jake and really worked him over. DSD customer service sent me a replacement in plenty of time to finish out the season. Hands down the best customer service I have ever experienced. Fantastic experience. You won’t be disappointed.
